I love Saint Tropez. I will live there one day when I’ve earned enough to escape the London rat race. Saint Tropez, located on the Cote D’Azur in South East France, just an hour and a half’s flight away on a plane from London, is the epitome of luxury travel and has everything for those wishing to indulge in a luxury lifestyle. Below is a complete guide of the best hotels in St Tropez, best restaurants in St Tropez and best things to do in St Tropez. Best hotels St Tropez If you want to throw the boat out, then I recommend the Pan Dei Palace as the best hotel in St Tropez. Ideally located just off the Place Des Lices in the centre of town the Pan Dei, a Relais & Chateaux hotel, has an Indian palace inspired decor. The hotel has a small but well-formed pool, wellness…

Lake Como is a must see for anyone with a love of Italy or those just seeking to kick back and relax in the meditational surroundings of one of Italy’s great geographical wonders. Below is a complete guide to the best hotels in Lake Como, best restaurants in Lake Como and the best things to do in Como. Best hotels Lake Como We stayed at the Grand Hotel Menaggio which has stunning views onto Lake Como and Bellagio in the distance. The hotel is a little dated inside (that’s also part of its charm though), however, it is comfortable and has a large swimming pool directly adjacent to the lake, and this alone gives the hotel that luxury travel vibe that would make me come back for another stay. Book a Lake View room for just a smidgen over £100 per night, a bargain for those wanting to indulge in…

When you imagine luxury travel, you are usually painting a picture with your mind’s eye of endless white sandy beaches dotted with coconut trees, gently lapped by turquoise waters rich with marine life. Spending long sunny days lazing by the pool with a good book and sipping tropical cocktails long into the balmy night…so when we agreed as a family to spend my dad’s 70th birthday on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean I was more than a little excited. Long Beach Golf Resort & Spa My brother lives with his young family in Perth Australia and was figuratively meeting us in the middle, so we decided to book the family friendly 5* Long Beach Golf & Spa Resort in Belle Mare on the Eastern Coast of Mauritius. We opted for the Superior Beach Front Room and were not disappointed. The room was very spacious with a large…

I’ve always wanted to swim with wild dolphins, its one of those bucket list items that had somehow managed to escape me for the better part of 38 years. So when I heard the stories about Praia De Pipa, an unspoiled hippy enclave in Natal, North East Brazil, where one of natures most beautiful creatures were rumoured to swim right up to the shore, I knew we had to go and so made it part of our sabbatical travel plans. Below is a complete guide to the best hotels in Praia Da Pipa, best restaurants in Praia Da Pipa and the best things to do in Praia Da Pipa. Best hotels Praia Da Pipa There is only one hotel to stay at in Praia De Pipa and thats the Pousada Toca Da Coruja. This place is honeymoon material, I mean big time! The Balinese style villas are beautifully appointed, coming…

Before I start this review I have a small confession to make…my wedding was in Maratea, Basilicata so I fear my glasses may have that suspicious tint of rose and my judgement may be somewhat clouded by the mist of love…but what the heck – much as I want to keep Basilicata ‘our little secret’ I can’t! Like love itself I have to scream about this place from the rooftops and share it with the world so everybody can appreciate this hidden gem in southern Italy. (Ok, emotional outporing done I promise – now onto the review!) Situated around 2.5 hours drive south from Naples, Basilicata is the Amalfi Coast’s lesser known little brother. Except…strip out the tourists, dial up the scenery, raise the bar up a few notches on the food (OMG the mozzarella!) and add some spectacular wines and suddenly little brother is punching way above his weight.…

It had been nine years since my last visit to the Amalfi Coast and somehow I had managed to forget just how breathtakingly beautiful it was…We were married a couple of hours down the road at The Santavenere Hotel in Maratea in the Basilicata region of Italy so this part of the world will always hold a special place in our hearts. For our 10th wedding anniversary we wanted to take a walk down memory lane and spend a couple of days in Positano, as we had done all those years ago, before heading further south to The Santavenere. The 1.5 hour drive from Naples to Positano, first past the imposing and ominous Mount Vesuvius, then along the achingly beautiful, if not slightly heart stopping, high and winding coastal road to Sorento and then onto Positano soon reminded me why I fell in love with this place all those years…
